UK weather: When will Easter heatwave end as Brits soak up last of bank holiday sun

Easter bank holiday weekend under some sunny rays.Good weather can't last forever, as much as we wish it would, and we could soon be back to work under cloudy skies, with a chilly breeze set to replace those four days of sun.The start of the year brought some miserable weather in the shape of the howling winds of Storm Dudley and Eunice, so any spring sun is a welcome treat, particularly on the first bank holiday of the year.Allowed by the good weather, enthusiastic Brits turned to drinking and sightseeing over the weekend, even turning a British beauty spot into a poo-covered mountain. Some showers are expected today as the UK looks forward to a summer without Covid restrictions.Though not technically a heatwave, most of the hot weather is set to end today, Monday April 18, with the Met Office advising that things will be feeling "noticeably fresher".The Met Office's Simon Partridge said: "There will be a noticeable dip [on Monday] because we’ll have a very weak cold front move across the country tonight and that will introduce slightly cooler air in the west."So we’ll have a noticeably fresher feel although [it will be] mostly dry with a decent amount of sunny spells around – but just not as warm as it has been. That’s kind of going to be a repeating theme through the remainder of the week."For a heatwave to be confirmed, the temperatures need to reach a certain threshold for three days in a row and be above a certain temperature.

Met Office warnings for all of UK as storms threaten 90mph gales and 10 inches of snow
UK should now be ready for two massive storms this week as weather forecasters ramp up their warnings of heavy snow and high winds. The Met Office say gusts of up to 80-90mph could batter parts of the country on Wednesday afternoon (16 February) as Storm Dudley sweeps in over Scotland and Northern Ireland.Gale-force winds from the high-pressure weather system approaching across the Atlantic will then make their way over to northern England by the evening. The national forecaster has issued a yellow warning for wind across all parts of the UK bar northern Scotland for Friday. There is also a more severe amber warning in place from today for southern and western Scotland, the north coast of Northern Ireland and northern England.A forecast on the Met Office website admitted that Storm Dudley would take an unpredictable path on Wednesday, and read: "After a windy day, westerly winds are expected to increase further later on Wednesday afternoon and evening across southern Scotland, Northern Ireland, northern England, then parts of Wales, the Midlands and East Anglia."There is still some uncertainty in the timing and location of the strongest winds but there is the potential for inland wind gusts of 60-70 mph in places."Gusts of 80-90 mph are possible around exposed coasts of southwest Scotland for a brief time.

Our Yorkshire Farm's Amanda Owen shares 'pained' snap after tragic stillbirth news
Our Yorkshire Farm star Amanda Owen admitted she was "pained" as she took to social media to post a sweet snap alongside her daughters. It was a welcome relief after the tragic news that affected the farm recently. The Channel 5 shepherdess had headed out into the stable for a regular day’s work out on her rural farm, helped out by two of her kids as they braced themselves against the raging Storm Dudley.Amanda looked stunning as ever in a camouflage fleece snood and black waterproof jacket, opting for a dark smokey eye look and pale pink lipgloss despite the hard day’s work. With her daughters bundled up in wool hats and winter coats, Amanda headed out to see to her flock of sheep, before snuggling up in the stable with the horses to make sure they were well fed for the day.Captioning her rural photoset, Amanda wrote: “Never fully dressed without a smile!"*Albeit a pained one as we are all sopping wet."She tagged the post with #Rain and #Winter. And it looked like her fellow farming pal and Countryfile star Matt Baker was on hand to offer reassurance, as he commented: "Soaking here too! Enjoy the fire."Later, Amanda wrote to her fans alongside a snap of her kids feeding the horses: "Play in a manger."Overheard conversation ‘Will the hay manger tip over?’. ‘No, it’s very stable!’"It comes shortly after Amanda shared a sweet update on the cows at her farm, after telling followers the tragic news that one of the new calves was stillborn.Another calf has now been fostered with the mother cow - and, according to Amanda’s pictures, seems to be doing extremely well with its new family. She explained: "Lily & Stormy!
