Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey had tears in his eyes as a jury cleared him of nine sex offences.The Hollywood star, 64, had been on trial at Southwark Crown Court accused of sexually assaulting four men in the period between 2001 and 2013. After 12 hours and 26 minutes, the jury panel acquitted Spacey of seven counts of sexual assault, one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent and one count of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.

The man said that the experience was new for him but did not want to go further. “I respected that,” Spacey said. The accuser claims that Spacey sexually assaulted him a few times in the early 2000s. When asked by his barrister, Patrick Gibbs KC, about the events that he attended during the dates when the alleged assaults took place, Spacey said that he went through boxes of contracts and looked online to collect evidence of his whereabouts. “I happen to keep everything,” Spacey said.

It was like a cobra coming out and getting hold," the alleged victim said.

According to U.K. media reports, the actor spoke only to confirm his full name, Kevin Spacey Fowler, and that he could hear the judge. Spacey’s legal representative, barrister Patrick Gibbs KC, attended the pre-trial hearing at Southwark Crown Court in South London in person. The purpose of the largely administrative hearing was to set the date and length of the trial. Judge Wall confirmed the trial will commence on June 28 and it is scheduled to last four weeks, London newspaper the Evening Standard reported.
