Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth players have been covering a number of iconic tracks via a new piano minigame.A demo for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launched earlier this week, with players able to get to grips with the game’s opening chapters. As well as providing a backstory for Cloud and Sephiroth, this demo has also allowed players to try out a number of new minigames.“Some of the minigames are just as fun to watch as they are to play, so they’re perfect to play when you feel like taking a breather from the main story,” said Square Enix, with both collectible card game Queen’s Blood and a series of chocobo time trials available to play.However it’s the piano found in Tifa Lockheart’s room in Nibelheim that’s causing the most excitement.

My Chemical Romance have paid tribute to producer Doug McKean, who has died aged 54.According to an obituary shared by the band, McKean passed away yesterday (July 29) from a brain haemorrhage.In 2001, McKean moved to Los Angeles to work with producer Rob Cavallo, and went on to receive two Grammy Awards for his engineering work on Green Day’s ‘American Idiot’.McKean also had a longstanding relationship with My Chemical Romance, engineering 2006’s ‘The Black Parade’ and its follow-up, 2010’s ‘Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys’.He also engineered and produced Gerard Way’s solo album ‘Hesitant Alien’ (2014); Way later said that “there would be no album without Doug”. McKean went on to work with Way on a majority of the standalone solo singles that followed the release of ‘Hesitant Alien’.His most recent work was on My Chemical Romance’s comeback single ‘The Foundations Of Decay’, with Way saying the pair had been working together throughout lockdown.Paying tribute to McKean, My Chemical Romance wrote: “My Chemical Romance lost Doug McKean, a dear friend, a collaborator, a partner, a brother, a problem-solver, a genius, an integral part of our music.

Arctic Monkeys, My Chemical Romance, Miley Cyrus and more have been announced on the line-up for this year’s edition of Mexico’s Corona Capital festival.The festival will run for three days across November 18-20, taking place at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez race track in Mexico City. The event, which typically features alternative and rock acts, also counts Paramore, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Two Door Cinema Club and Liam Gallagher among its 85 acts.Elsewhere, on the pop front, the festival will welcome Lil Nas X, Remi Wolf and The 1975, while The Kooks, Jamie XX, Foals and IDLES will further represent the UK.

My Chemical Romance played Milton Keynes last night (May 19), as their hugely anticipated UK and Ireland comeback tour continues.The third date of the reformed band’s current run, and their first of four shows in Milton Keynes saw a 21-song setlist that opened with their new single ‘The Foundations Of Decay’.As well as a mix of hits, fan favourites and deep cuts, the band played two songs for the first time on the tour.

Ellise Shafer My Chemical Romance has returned with its first new song since 2014.The six-minute track, titled “The Foundations of Decay,” harkens back to the emo band’s heyday with Gerard Way’s dramatic vocal delivery, soaring guitar riffs and an epic slow build. The song is produced by Way, Doug McKean and lead guitarist Ray Toro.The band is about to embark on their reunion tour, with dates in North America and Europe, which was originally scheduled for 2020 but postponed due to the pandemic.

My Chemical Romance‘s run of comeback shows in Milton Keynes next week have been announced.The returning band will play at Stadium MK on May 19, 21 and 22 after kicking off their UK and Ireland tour at the Eden Project in Cornwall on Monday (May 16).The set times for the Milton Keynes shows have now been confirmed, with MCR set to perform from 20:55-22:25 on all three dates. Chief support acts Placebo will play from 19:20-20:20 across the three gigs.May 19 will feature Witch Fever (17:30-17:55) and Lost Alone (18:20-18:50) as support, while the May 21 gig will see performances from Cassyette (17:30-17:55) and Barns Courtney (18:20-18:50).The final MK date on May 22 will see Charlotte Sands (17:30-17:55) and Starcrawler (18:20-18:50) provide support to Placebo and MCR.Any remaining tickets for MCR’s MK gigs, as well as their other UK and Ireland dates this month, remain on sale here.

Kelly Clarkson has put her bright and booming spin on My Chemical Romance’s classic ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’.It adds to a sprawling list of covers that Clarkson has performed on her NBC series The Kelly Clarkson Show, with recent editions seeing her tackle tracks by the likes of Radiohead, The Weeknd, Depeche Mode, Olivia Rodrigo and Charli XCX.Her take on ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’ – the cornerstone of My Chemical Romance’s 2006 album ‘The Black Parade’ – sees her return to the pop-rock stylings of her early releases post-American Idol.Though it abridges the track considerably – Clarkson’s take runs a minute and a half long, while the original clocks in at 5:11 – it’s a largely faithful cover, soaring harmonies and all.Watch

My Chemical Romance has announced they are selling fabric face masks for coronavirus relief, as NME points out. According to the product description, the masks were originally conceived by former band manager Lauren Valencia, who passed away from cancer in 2019, and were originally intended for a desert show “that never happened, never will.” All proceeds from sales of the mask will go to the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund, which seeks to aid music professionals who have been affected by the ongoing pandemic.
