Jimmy Eat World have announced a ‘Futures’ one-off show in celebration of the album’s 20th anniversary along with special live vinyl LPs.The band took to their official X/Twitter account to share a black-and-white video that sees frontman, Jim Adkins, step into a telephone booth and pick up a ringing phone before the frame changes to clips of the band performing their song ‘Futures’ in what appears to be a live studio.The words “Jimmy Eat World, Celebrating 20 years of ‘Futures’ October 17 at The Van Buren, Phoenix” then appear on the screen as the band continue playing the track. “It’s unbelievable to us that our album Futures is almost 20 years old! Jimmy Eat World have released a live version of their third LP ‘Clarity’ in celebration of its 25th anniversary.Titled ‘Clarity: Phoenix Sessions’, the limited edition two-LP set features all of the album’s original 13 songs which were recorded live during the band’s 2021 three-night livestream series of the same name, which featured them performing a different album in full during each show.The album is pressed on a translucent sunkissed coloured vinyl and includes an extensive gatefold with previously unseen behind-the-scenes photos by Steve Thrasher along with notes from the band. ‘Clarity: Phoenix Sessions’ was self-produced by Jimmy Eat World and mixed by Jim Adkins.

Jimmy Eat World have shared their new single ‘Place Your Debts’ – you can listen to the track below.Self-produced by the band, the song follows on from the four-piece’s June single ‘Something Loud’ and its subsequent acoustic rearrangement, which arrived in September.‘Place Your Debts’ was written by Jimmy Eat World in collaboration with Clark Baechle (The Faint) and Denver Dalley (Desaparecidos). “The ‘debt’ you rack up is the time you spend avoiding doing the work to know yourself,” frontman Jim Adkins explained in a statement.“You buy an ending every time you start something, and the cost is determined by how closely you pay attention to your personal condition,” he added.A video for ‘Place Your Debts’, which you can watch below, has also arrived today (October 19).Directed by and starring Adkins, the clip was filmed throughout the UK, US and Europe during the band’s recent tour.“It’s a series of many, many edits of me singing to the camera,” the frontman explained.

Speaking in a press release, frontman Jim Adkins said the response to the event elicited a period of reflection in both his personal and professional lives.“While I thought I made the most of the early band days, I realise now I missed some stuff,” he said.
