Matt Fitzpatrick will bag tidy prize money after winning thrilling US Open
CBS.Those winnings are £400,000 more than Scheffler and Justin Thomas earned for their wins at the Masters and the PGA Championship earlier this year, where they both won £2.2million.This year's US Open is understood to have had the largest prize purse in major championship history, with £14.3million available to those that made the cut. All of the top 20 finishers will receive a minimum of £160,000 as a reward for their performances.However, Fitzpatrick's winnings are not the biggest paid out this year, though, with Cameron Smith taking home £2.95million after winning The Players Championship back in March.Meanwhile, the controversial LIV Golf Tour paid out a staggering £3.3million to Charl Schwartzel after he won their inaugural event in London earlier this month, according to USA Today.
