Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron has recalled receiving a cease-and-desist letter from KISS when he was a teenager.Speaking on the Howard Stern Show to promote Pearl Jam’s latest album ‘Dark Matter’, Cameron – who was also in Soundgarden – told the story about meeting KISS when he was young and how that resulted in him getting a cease-and-desist a few months later.Cameron revealed that he had been in a KISS cover band growing up: “We played local high schools, keggers, whatnot. And my dad was friends with the head of the stagehand union in San Diego, so when KISS was playing there… during the ‘Alive’ tour, that was ’75, we got to go see KISS do a soundcheck at the San Diego Sports Arena.”Cameron continued: “So I brought the two guys I was in the KISS band with, Tim and Dave Mahoney and we brought our photo album from our stupid KISS cover band to meet Paul Stanley, and we got a photo with him.

Pearl Jam‘s Mike McCready has teased the band’s forthcoming album, revealing that it’s “heavier than you’d expect”.The band’s record-in-progress is the follow-up to 2020’s ‘Gigaton’ and McCready offered some details about the album in a recent interview with Classic Rock.“I’m hoping it’s gonna come out [in 2024],” McCready said. “We have a bunch of songs tracked. We worked with Andrew Watt, who’s a younger pop producer-type guy, but he’s really a rock guy at heart — I think we’re his favorite band.

“I loved the songs when they were written and in some ways they feel as fresh and perhaps more relevant all these years later,” said Lee in a press release about the new tracks, which were given fresh mixes by Rush’s longtime producer and engineer, David Bottrill.Lee recorded ‘My Favourite Headache’ during Rush’s hiatus between 1997 and 2002 with Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron and multi-instrumentalist Ben Mink, eventually releasing it in November 2000.In November, Lee released his memoir, My Effin’ Life, which chronicles his formative experiences as a child, his experiences with bandmates and friends Neil Peart and Alex Lifeson, and his solo career beyond Rush. He is currently on tour promoting the book.While in New York City, Lee opened up about his final interactions with Peart, who passed away in 2020 following a three year-long battle with aggressive brain cancer.

They released a joint statement that said they had “reached an amicable out-of-court resolution”.It added: “The reconciliation marks a new partnership between the two parties, which will allow Soundgarden fans around the world to hear the final songs that the band and Chris were working on.”While appearing as a guest on The Vinyl Guide podcast, Cameron, Soundgarden’s drummer, revealed that the band are still dealing with Cornell’s estate and that the chances of the band releasing the final songs with him on them are slim.“We’re still in the middle of a dispute with the estate,” he said.
