Carolyn Giardina “Conclave,” “The Brutalist” and “Vermiglio” have been added to the main competition lineup for the 32nd edition of the EnergaCamerimage international cinematography film festival, which will be held Nov. 16-23 in Toruń, Poland. Edward Berger’s Vatican thriller “Conclave” was lensed by Stéphane Fontaine, Brady Corbet’s historical drama “The Brutalist” was photographed by Lol Crawley, and Maura Delpero’s Italian drama “Vermiglio” was shot by Mikhail Krichman.

Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent “The Devil’s Bath,” a period psychological thriller which competed at the Berlin Film Festival, has been submitted by Austria as its official Oscar entry for the international feature film race. The film picked up the Silver Bear for best cinematography (for Martin Gschlacht) at the Berlinale. “The Devil’s Bath” is directed by Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala, the Austrian filmmaking duo behind “Goodnight Mommy” which had bowed at Venice and had also represented Austria in the Oscar race.

Berlinale awards: Mati Diop takes Golden Bear for ‘Dahomey’

Dahomey. The Golden Bear, the first to be awarded to a black filmmaker in the festival’s history, is about the return of 26 royal treasures of the Kingdom of Dahomey from Paris to their country of origin, the present-day Republic of Benin.MUBI has acquired the rights to the film for both the UK and the United States, among other territories.On the night Diop had the following to say when she collected her award:Kenyan-Mexican actor Lupita Nyong’o was president of this year’s jury.Elsewhere, the runner-up prize, the Silver Bear Grand Jury went to Korean filmmaker Hong Sansoo’s Yeohaengjaui pilyo (A Traveler’s Needs), while the Silver Bear Jury Prize was awarded to Bruno Dumont’s L’Empire.Nelson Carlos De Los Santos Arias scooped the Best Director award for Pepe, while the two main acting awards went to two performances in the English language.
