Zack Sharf Digital News Director Joseph Fiennes expressed regret to The Observer over his decision to play Michael Jackson in a pulled 2017 episode of Sky Arts’ anthology series “Urban Myths.” The episode centered on Jackson taking a post-9/11 road trip with Marlon Brando (Brian Cox) and Elizabeth Taylor (Stockard Channing). Fiennes’ casting as the music icon generated whitewashing backlash, and the episode’s trailer ignited outrage over Fiennes’ lighter skin tone and prosthetic nose to play Jackson. “I think people are absolutely right to be upset,” Fiennes said. “And it was a wrong decision. Absolutely. And I’m one part of that — there are producers, broadcasters, writers, directors, all involved in these decisions. But obviously if I’m upfront, I have become the voice for other people. I would love them to be around the table as well to talk about it. But you know, it came at a time where there was a movement and a shift and that was good, and it was, you know, a bad call. A bad mistake.”

Julia Louis-Dreyfus opened up about working with "Sopranos" star James Gandolfini on one of his final films before his death in June 2013 at the age of 51. The 62-year-old actress starred opposite the late actor in the 2013 romantic-comedy "Enough Said" in which they played a pair of divorcees who fall in love.  Louis-Dreyfus, who had never met Gandofini prior to filming the movie, recalled how he was very different from the ruthless mob boss he portrayed for six seasons in the hit HBO series.

Directors of new titles, all co-productions, range from star auteur Gabriel Mascaró (“Divine Love,” “Neon Bull”), and celebrated doc director Eryk Rocha (“Cinema Novo,” “Edna”) to multi-prized actor Dira Paes, who broke out in John Boorman’s “The Emerald Forest.” Also in the cut is David Schurmann (“Little Secret”), who and Jean-Pierre Dutilleux whose 1976 “Raoni,” scored and was Oscar nomination and was championed by Marlon Brando.

Johnny Depp’s career is getting back on track after his highly publicized libel court case with his ex Amber Heard. After being dropped by multiple collaborating companies and movie franchises, French multinational luxury fashion house Dior continued supporting the actor despite his legal issues.

Johnny Depp is directing his first film in 25 years. Based on the life of Italian painter Amadeo Modigliani, “Modi” will star various international actors, including Italian Riccardo Scarmacio in the titular role and beloved French actor Pierre Niney. The cast is rounded out by none other than Al Pacino.

Rita Moreno Harry Belafonte, who passed away today at the age of 96, was not only a Tony-, Grammy- and Emmy-winning singer and actor, he was a vitally important activist who brought many top Hollywood actors to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legendary march on Washington in 1963. Below, his longtime friend, EGOT-winning actress, singer and dancer Rita Moreno, remembers that day, and more. Harry Belafonte was the reason that a planeload of movie stars showed up for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s March on Washington in August 1963. The trip came about at his behest. Harry wanted very much for Dr. King to understand that there were people in Hollywood who really cared, people who were emotionally involved in politics and cared for the welfare of people of any color.

Harry Belafonte, the prolific and hugely popular artist who brought Carribbean music into the American mainstream, has died. He passed away this morning (Tuesday, April 25) in his home on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, according to his longtime spokesman, Ken Sunshine, who also confirmed his cause of death as congestive heart failure.

"Godfather" star Al Pacino revealed that Hollywood history could have been very different had he just said yes.. The actor was asked if there were any roles he regretted turning down in his career during an interview with David Rubenstein at the 92NY in New York as part of their "People Who Inspire Us" series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pacino revealed, "I turned down ‘Star Wars.’"  "So I was there and all of a sudden they gave me a script that was called ‘Star Wars,’" he continued.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s ties with Malaysian financier turned fugitive, Jho Low, have been detailed in new FBI documents.According to a report on Bloomberg, DiCaprio was interviewed as a potential witness by the FBI in 2018 about his relationship with Low, who is accused of embezzling $4.5billion from Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund, 1Malaysia Development Berhard (1MDB).DiCaprio is said to have first met Low at a New York nightclub in 2010 and went on to establish a close relationship.Low is said to have showered the actor with gifts – including a first edition of The Great Gatsby and Marlon Brando’s Oscar for On The Waterfront – and helped finance 2013 film The Wolf Of Wall Street, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring DiCaprio.“I was working for him… and that business also translates into being social,” DiCaprio told a grand jury, according to the report. “And so we saw each other more, and there was more interaction.”According to the FBI documents, Low called DiCaprio “L-Dogg”.

Will Smith notwithstanding — Sacheen Littlefeather is virtually assured a spot in the In Memoriam segment when the show airs Sunday, March 12, on ABC.But her family would rather the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences just forgot about the late actress.Publicly recognizing her will continue the “biggest blunder in the history of the Oscars,” Littlefeather’s sister Rosalind Cruz told The Post Monday.“They will [include her] because they need to keep covering up for themselves,” Cruz, 65 said of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. “They’re endorsing a Pretendian and keep pushing the lie and slander of our family and they don’t care.”Littlefeather, who died of breast cancer at 75 in October, established herself in Oscars lore in 1973 when she declined Marlon Brando’s Best Actor Oscar on his behalf.

When Kerry Condon heard her Oscar nomination announced in the early hours of the morning in LA, she was clustered around the television with a group that included her Banshees of Inisherin co-star Colin Farrell. “I remember thinking, ‘Oh Jesus, hang on though. What if it’s bad for one of us?’” Condon says. Fortunately, neither actor was left out in the cold. Making Banshees was a chance for the actress to reunite with writer-director Martin McDonagh, in whose plays and the film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri she had already starred. The Banshees character of Siobhán lets Condon show us her chops — from a scene in which she gently lets down the amorous but tortured young Dominic (Barry Keoghan), to telling Brendan Gleeson’s bull-headed Colm (and men in general), “You’re all feckin’ boring!” Here, Condon reflects on her career thus far and some of her onscreen favorites.
