The jury included executives from BBC Creative Studios, Inédite Agency, and Make It Happen Studios, along with the Series Mania team.

Sex Education creator Laurie Nunn has opened up about cast departures from the show as the final season airs on Netflix.Actors to have departed the show ahead of its final season include Patricia Allison (Ola), Tanya Reynolds (Lily), Simone Ashley (a member of The Untouchables) and Rakhee Thakrar (Emily Sands).Speaking about some of the cast departures, Nunn explained that it was down to the character’s storylines reaching their natural conclusion.Speaking to LADbible, Nunn said: “Those storylines felt like they had just come to a really lovely ending in series three, and I felt like the characters of Lily and Ola just really felt like they ended in a really happy place.“Particularly because they’re a lesbian couple, I wanted them to not have any more pain or trauma, and just be left happy together. Aimee Lou Wood, who plays Aimee Gibbs, also won a BAFTA for Best Female Comedy Performance.As detailed in the announcement post in July, creator Laurie Nunn said the storylines in Sex Education came to a natural conclusion while writing the fourth season.“Writing this feels bittersweet, as we’ve decided the fourth season will also be the final instalment of our show,” Nunn said.

Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa has spoken about how his role in the show “undid a lot of the internalised hate [he] had”.The Rwandan-Scottish actor, who plays gay teenager Eric Effiong in the coming-of-age Netflix series, reflected on how the character had impacted his life during a recent interview with Elle.“I’ve experienced racism my whole life, and while I always believed in myself, always knew [racists] were stupid and uneducated, I guess it did misinform my view of how the world works,” he continued.“It makes you think everyone has that opinion and you’ll constantly have to fight through life – then you learn that you don’t: you can find a tribe, you can find your people.”Gatwa also thanked Sex Education creator Laurie Nunn for “giving nuance” to his “gay, Black character and gifting him to the world”.The actor went on to describe Eric as “so fierce and unashamed”, adding: “It was healing for me, and great for people to see themselves represented.
