Todd Spangler NY Digital EditorTitus Welliver’s ex-cop Harry Bosch will return to crack more cases on Amazon Freevee.Amazon Freevee (formerly IMDb TV) announced the pickup of Season 2 of “Bosch: Legacy,” a spin-off of series “Bosch” that ran for seven seasons on Prime Video — ahead of the May 6 premiere of “Bosch: Legacy” on the ecommerce giant’s free, ad-supported streaming service.In addition, Amazon Freevee is expanding its licensed content lineup through a short-term film licensing agreement with Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution for a “limited selection” of 20th Century Studios titles, including “Deadpool,” “Deadpool 2,” “Logan,” “Hidden Figures,” Kenneth Branagh’s “Murder on the Orient Express” and “The Post.” The announcements came at Amazon’s 2022 NewFronts presentation Monday for marketers.Amazon Freevee also announced the renewal for third and fourth seasons of “Top Class: The Life and Times of the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers,” the docuseries about a Southern California high-school basketball team, from LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s Uninterrupted, as well as greenlights for four new originals: cooking competition series “America’s Test Kitchen: The Next Generation”; coming-of-age drama “Beyond Black Beauty”; family competition series “Play-Doh Squished”; and music documentary “Post Malone: Runaway.”Currently in development at Freevee is “Inside No. 9,” based on the BBC’s award-winning anthology series, combining humor, horror, crime and suspense — with the episodes linked in some way by the inclusion of the number nine.

The upcoming third and final season of Bosch: Legacy is getting a couple of new faces!

Marc Malkin Senior Editor, Culture and Events Jeremy Glazer and Miles Gaston Villanueva have been cast in recurring roles in the third and final season of Prime Video’s “Bosch: Legacy.” Glazer will play Patrick Currey, a West Hollywood city councilman who uses his power to keep a tight lid on his sexual proclivities. When investigators start poking around his private life, he tries to ally with Honey “Money” Chandler to best position himself politically and legally.

The Original Pantry Café, an iconic Downtown L.A. landmark featured in Knocked Up, Snowfall, The Million Dollar Hotel and many of Michael Connelly’s bestsellers featuring Detective Harry Bosch — later portrayed by Titus Welliver on Bosch — has closed after more than 100 years.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter Titus Welliver and Juani Feliz have been cast in guest star roles in an upcoming episode of “The Equalizer,” which could set up a potential spinoff based on their characters. It was first reported in November that CBS was eyeing a spinoff of the Queen Latifah-led reboot of the 1980s action crime drama of the same name.

Bosch: Legacy will conclude its run on Prime Video and Amazon Freevee following its third season that will launch in March.

The new Bosch spinoff series centering onRenée Ballard has cast four series regulars joining Maggie Q, Courtney Taylor and John Carroll Lynch: Michael Mosley (Ozark), Rebecca Field (A Star is Born), Victoria Moroles (Teen Wolf) and Amy Hill (Magnum P.I.).

As previously announced, Maggie Q will star in the Amazon MGM Studios series as Ballard while Courtney Taylor is set to play Zamira Parker. As with “Bosch,” the show is based on the work of author Michael Connelly.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter The “Bosch” spinoff about cold case detective Renee Ballard has added Courtney Taylor to its cast, Variety has learned. Taylor will star alongside previously announced series lead Maggie Q in the untitled series, which was picked up to series in November 2023.

It’s official. Amazon has confirmed the casting of Maggie Q as star of the upcoming Renée Ballard Bosch spinoff series, which Deadline previously exclusively reported. We’re also getting a first look at Maggie Q and Titus Welliver in sneak peek photos of the Renée Ballard crossover episode in the Bosch: Legacy Season 3 finale. You can see above and below. Additionally, Jet Wilkinson has been tapped to direct the first two episodes of the Untitled Renee Ballard series for Prime Video. Wilkinson also will direct the Season 3 finale of Bosch: Legacy, a crossover which serves as the introduction of Maggie Q as Renée Ballard.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter Amazon Prime Video‘s upcoming series based on James Patterson’s Alex Cross novels is being renewed for Season 2, Variety has learned from sources. The show, which stars Aldis Hodge as Cross, has yet to debut its first season or even set a premiere date. But according to sources, Amazon was impressed enough with what they have seen from the first season to greenlight the second and begin casting.
