We have a new update on Taylor Swift‘s canceled Vienna concerts due to a terrorist plot.

Taylor Swift Vienna gigs were aiming to kill “tens of thousands” of fans.Earlier this month, all three of the pop star’s ‘Eras Tour’ shows in Vienna were cancelled after it was revealed that two people had been arrested for allegedly plotting a terror attack during the gigs.The ‘Midnights’ singer was set to play at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium on Thursday (August 8), Friday (9) and Saturday (10), but event organiser Barracuda Music confirmed that it had “no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety”.In relation to the terror plot on the Vienna shows, a 19-year-old main suspect was arrested in Ternitz, south of Vienna, and a second person in the Austrian capital. It was widely reported that the former had pledged an oath of allegiance to the Islamic State group.Now, according to the CIA’s deputy director David Cohen, the terrorist who had planned the attack wanted to kill “a huge number” of people at the event (per BBC).Cohen addressed the failed plot during the annual Intelligence and National Security Summit on Wednesday (August 28) in Maryland.

That’s according to the 2022 annual ad revenue report from the Internet Advertising Bureau trade group, conducted by PwC. Between 2021-22, U.S. internet advertising revenue grew 10.8% year-over-year to a total of $209.7 billion, compared with 35.4% surge the previous year, per the study. In 2022, digital ad spending saw the highest growth in Q2 (21.1%) followed by Q2 at 11.8% before slowing in Q3 (8.4%) and Q4 (4.4%). By comparison, U.S. TV advertising revenue in 2022 grew 2%, to $71 billion, according to estimates from PwC’s Entertainment and Media Outlook 2022-2026 report.

A week after a New York judge let Smartmatic move forward with its defamation lawsuit against Fox News, the network is challenging the elections systems company’s whopping $2.7 billion claim of damages.

Brian Steinberg Senior TV EditorA New York State Supreme Court judge ruled that a $2.7 billion defamation lawsuit filed against Fox News Channel by the voting-technology company Smartmatic can proceed, despite Fox’s motion to have the matter dismissed. The suit is the second of its kind that has cleared a potential legal hurdle and has been allowed to continue making its way through the courts.In the suit, filed in February of last year, Smartmatic alleged that Fox News and three of its popular on-air personalities at the time — Lou Dobbs, Maria Bartiromo and Jeanine Pirro —  made false claims about the company’s actions and influence on the 2020 presidential election, or allowed such claims to continue to circulate.
