The Waterboys and World Party star Karl Wallinger dies aged 66 as shocked fans pay tribute

Karl Wallinger, a star of The Waterboys and World Party, has sadly passed away at the age of 66.The musician's publicist confirmed that he died on Sunday (March 12). Karl, who was born in Wales, formed World Party in 1986 after leaving The Waterboys.Their debut album, Private Revolution, included popular songs like Ship Of Fools.They released several more albums, with their fourth, Egyptology, featuring the track She's The One.This song was later covered by Robbie Williams and reached number one on the UK charts in 1999. In 2001, Karl had a brain aneurysm which paused his career for a few years.

Hawkes took the lead while they appeared in the background in lederhosen and a maid’s outfit seemingly to mark Oktoberfest.The couple have been delivering Sunday Lunch episodes since 2020, when they began the series during the coronavirus pandemic, recently delivering a cover of David Bowie‘s ‘Heroes’ in dedication to the late Queen Elizabeth II.Other covers that have been featured on the series include Pantera’s ‘5 Minutes Alone’, Lenny Kravitz’s ‘Are You Gonna Go My Way’, Limp Bizkit’s ‘Nookie’ and Billy Idol‘s ‘Rebel Yell’ among many others.Willcox explained last year that the Sunday Lunch series had been born from a desire to keep Fripp inspired and entertained during the coronavirus-enforced lockdowns to stop from withdrawing”.“Here I am in this house with this 74-year-old husband who I really don’t want to live without,” she told the Guardian.
