Jem Aswad Senior Music Editor Universal Music Publishing Group has named Jennifer Knoepfle executive vice president and co-head of US A&R, effective immediately, the company announced on Wednesday. Based in Los Angeles, Knoepfle will report to UMPG chairman-CEO Jody Gerson. According to the announcement, Knoepfle — who joins after 13 years at Sony Music Publishing, where she worked with Gerson — will work closely with David Gray, her fellow co-head of U.S. A&R, and the company’s team. Knoepfle was most recently senior VP of creative at Sony Music Publishing, where she had worked since 2009. Girls’ Christopher Owens has announced his new solo album ‘I Wanna Run Barefoot Through Your Hair’ marking his first LP in nine years.The new LP is set for release on October 18 via True Panther Records (Girls, King Krule, Grace Ives) and you can pre-order / presave it here. ‘I Wanna Run Barefoot Through Your Hair’ was co-produced by Owens and longtime collaborator Doug Boehm (Girls, French Kicks, Twin Peaks) in various San Francisco studios.Along with the announcement of the album, Owens also shared his new single ‘No Good’. Vampire Weekend have shared their latest single ‘Classical’, the third offering from their upcoming album ‘Only God Was Above Us‘.Written by frontman Ezra Koenig, produced by Ariel Rechtshaid (Haim, Sky Ferreira) and Koenig and featuring an orchestral arrangement by Will Canzoneri, Koenig and Rechtshaid, the track highlights a whimsical beat against lyrics such as: “I know that walls fall, shacks shake / Bridges burn and bodies break / It’s clear something’s gonna change,” asking the question “And when it does, which classical remains?”Directed by Vampire Weekend’s longtime creative director Nick Harwood, the track’s accompanying music video sees the band alongside Rechtshaid, Ray Suen and their drum tech Josh Goldsmith on the guitar playing the song against a green screen with fresco paintings, churches and clocks behind them.‘Classical’ follows the two previously released singles ‘Capricorn’ and ‘Gen-X Cops’.
