Scammers have been posing as Arctic Monkeys’ agent to book artists for fake 2025 world tour
Arctic Monkeys’ agent to book artists for a fake 2025 world tour. The scammers have been posing as 13 Artists founder and agent Charlie Myatt, soliciting bookings for a fake Arctic Monkeys tour in 2025.13 Artists told IQ magazine that a “deluge” of fraudulent emails have been reported to them in the last few days. The emails, titled ‘CONFIDENTIAL – Arctic Monkeys – Midnight Mirage World Tour 2025’, were sent from a bogus address news@13-artists.net and see the sender asking the recipients reply to another bogus address, charlie.myatt@13-artists.com.The fraudsters appear to have even made a fake website that’s almost identical to the Brighton-based agency’s real one. Both the fabricated website and the scam email contain phone numbers (+44 20 3290 3795 and +44 79 0719 2974), neither of which belong to 13 Artists. The UK’s Entertainment Agents’ Association has previously issued a checklist if they are unsure of the validity of an email, urging promoters to check the email address and ring the agency to confirm if there are any doubts. They also advise to check an artist’s website for conflicting touring plans and make contact with the agent via phone. They also advise “Before sending a deposit, call the agency to confirm the booking and check their account details” and “check with promoters in other markets to verify the artist is touring in that region at that time.” They add: “If an offer is accepted and seems too good to be true, it probably is.”Back in November, it was revealed that Oasis fans who fell victim to ticket scams for their upcoming reunion tour have lost £346 each on average.Tickets for the UK dates first went on sale in August, with 1.4million up for grabs.

Sheffield Leadmill lose planning application to “gut” parts of the venue if evicted
its owners the Electric Group issued an eviction notice in March 2022, which sparked an outcry across the music industry and from gig-goers.Electric Group, a joint venture between Dominic Madden and Jacob Lewis that also owns London’s Electric Brixton, Bristol’s SWX and Newcastle’s NX, bought the site’s freehold in 2017 and shortly afterwards said they had no intention of closing the venue when they ended the current occupiers’ lease. However, the site’s management soon hit back, arguing that they were being “exterminated by the landlord”.The venue’s current tenant, Phil Mills, previously said he intended to “gut” the premises of its current fixtures and fittings – including the dancefloor and stage – if he was forced to vacate the building (via BBC News). But today (February 17), the city council rejected his plans to demolish a toilet block and infill works bordering Suffolk Road which would “return the building to pre-leasing condition”.The planning officer who recommended the proposed demolition be rejected described it as “purposeless” and without public benefit. The planning officer’s report stated: “In the event [the applicant’s] lease is terminated, they wish to return the building complex to the condition it was in prior to the lease being taken up. In this instance the proposal will result in the loss of facilities for a music venue/nightclub with no appreciable public benefits.

Watch Lola Young cover Arctic Monkeys’ ‘I Wanna Be Yours’ on SiriusXM
Lola Young has covered Arctic Monkeys’ ‘I Wanna Be Yours’ during an appearance on SiriusXM – check out her version below. The former NME Cover Star performed the 2013 AM track – itself a cover of a John Cooper Clarke poem – during a stop at the Alt Nation studio, reimaging the song as more piano-led and jazz-infused.Her session follows a string of performances and covers of late, including her recent American TV debut on The Tonight Show, as well as a cover of The Cure’s ‘Close To Me’ for an Australian session. The SiriusXM set also saw the emerging singer perform a stripped-back version of her runaway hit ‘Messy’ from her 2024 album ‘This Wasn’t Meant for You Anyway’, as well as her 2024 single ‘Conceited’.Check out both live performances of the songs below.A post shared by SiriusXM (@siriusxm)Last summer, Young’s debut album was given a glowing five-star review from NME, where it was described as “the most distinctive and daring realisation of her experimental tendencies yet”.“Young’s first full-length album moves with an auteur-like touch to its production; opulent soul set pieces stand tall next to raw, scratchy indie tunes, all of which see the south Londoner face desire in its many complications. It’s a collection that feels equally empowered and tormented,” it read.“Though Young’s specific type of yearning and bluntness may be indebted to SZA, she possesses the genuine star power to further develop an already strong artistic identity.

Sex Pistols’ Steve Jones tells us about Teenage Cancer Trust gigs and scrapped Alex Turner writing session
Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones has spoken to NME about the band’s upcoming show at the Royal Albert Hall for Teenage Cancer Trust, as well as Donald Trump’s America, future plans, and a scrapped writing session with Arctic Monkeys‘ Alex Turner. The punk icons were announced today (Monday January 27) as part a week’s programming in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust, with the annual series returning to London with the likes of The Who, The Corrs and James Arthur.Jones, bassist Glen Matlock and drummer Paul Cook reformed to acclaim last year with former Gallows frontman Frank Carter stepping in on vocal duties in the absence of estranged singer John Lydon – aka Johnny Rotten. The announcement of the new show coincides with news of three upcoming ‘Live In The USA 1978’ albums, which document the band’s infamous US tour when manager Malcolm McLaren had the Pistols play relatively obscure venues to largely hostile audiences.Rotten left the group days after their notorious January 14 show at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco, which would be the Pistols’ final gig until their first reformation in 1996.Check out our full interview below, where Jones also discussed the 2022 TV biopic Pistol, which was based on his memoir, Lonely Boy; Matlock’s criticism of the show, Donald Trump’s America; and Johnny Rotten’s vocal support of the President.NME: Hi Steve! So, the Pistols are playing the Royal Albert Hall for the Teenage Cancer Trust…Steve Jones: “It’s a good cause. Selfishly, I wanna do it because I’ve never even been to the Royal Albert Hall.

Listen to Arctic Monkeys’ Matt Helders explain British slang
Matt Helders has given a rough guide to British slang words like “bloke”, “chav” and “proper bladdered” – check it out below. The Arctic Monkeys drummer was appearing on the Bandsplain podcast when he talked his American host Yasi Salek through some of the UK’s choicest colloquial terms, offering his guidance on how best to use them in everyday life.Explaining the minute differences between a “lad” and a “bloke”, he said: “It’s sometimes the way you say it, but ‘lad’ would definitely be used like, ‘oh, he’s a bit of a lad’, and that’d be like Jack the Lad or a lad about town.”Explaining that the American equivalent of a “lad” would be a “bro”, he added: “And then you’d have a ‘chav’ in a Kappa.” Clarifying that you get chavs “up and down the country”, he said, “I’ve been accused of being a chav in my time, my early days, I had a big windbreaker phase.”He said a “dodgy geezer” is generally “up to no good”, while a “diamond geezer” is cool. If you’ve had a “wank” night then you have probably not had the best time, Helders explained, but if you were “bladdered” or “rat-arsed” then at least you had a few drinks to make it go by more quickly.Listen to the full chat, which also includes an introduction to Cockney rhyming slang as well as a guide to British food like bangers and mass and butties, here:Earlier this year, Helders revealed he has a “weird” version of ‘Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High’ that has never been released.
