Masters Of The Air looks destined to become one of the biggest shows of the year.Based on the 2007 book of the same name by Donald L. Miller, the miniseries follows the actions of the 100th Bomb Group, nicknamed the Bloody Hundreth, who served under the Eighth Air Force for the US during World War II.The series, produced by Apple Studios, features a cast filled with the stars of tomorrow, including Austin Butler, Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, Barry Keoghan, Isabel May, Raff Law and Ncuti Gatwa.Masters Of The Air is pitched as a companion series to 2001’s Band Of Brothers and 2010’s The Pacific.

And some were lucky enough to make it home. Regardless of individual fate, a toll was exacted on them all.Ranging in location from the bucolic fields and villages of southeast England, to the harsh deprivations of a German prisoner-of-war camp, and depicting a unique and crucial time in world history, Masters of the Air is said to be enormous in both scale and scope.

“Let’s rack ’em up and knock ’em down.” Those words from Austin Butler‘s Maj. Gale ‘Buck’ Cleven in the opening of the first trailer for Apple TV+’s World War II drama Masters of the Air. The nine-episode limited series hails from Band of Brothers and The Pacific producers Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman.

Elvis co-star Tom Hanks to save him from “emotional whiplash”.The actor, who received an Oscar nomination for his performance as Elvis Presley in the biopic, said Hanks expressed concern after he was consumed “so deeply” by the role for two years.Hanks’ concern led him to offer Butler a part in upcoming Apple TV+ series Masters Of The Air, which he’s co-producing with Steven Spielberg, to help him detach from Elvis.Speaking to The Sunday Times, Butler said that Hanks told him: “[Hanks] said, ‘You have immersed yourself so deeply in Elvis that, for your mental health, it would be wise to go straight into something else. If you just jump off the train, you might have emotional whiplash…“And, you know,’ Hanks continued.

Naman Ramachandran Disney+ is set to take viewers on a journey through Tudor England with its latest series, “Shardlake.” Based on the internationally acclaimed Tudor murder mystery novels by C.J. Sansom, the four-part drama is set in 16th century England during the dissolution of the monasteries. The series will follow the story of Matthew Shardlake, played by Arthur Hughes (“The Innocents,” “Then Barbara Met Alan”), a lawyer with an acute sense of justice and one of the few honest men in a world beset with scheming and plots. Shardlake works for Thomas Cromwell, played by Sean Bean (“Time,” “Game of Thrones”), the dangerous and all-powerful right-hand man to Henry VIII.

Nate Mann is set to join the ensemble cast for Apple Studios’ Masters of the Air, from Playtone and Amblin Television. Austin Butler, Anthony Boyle and Callum Turner are already on board to star. The limited series, which will be produced by the companies, reunites Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman following their Emmy-winning work on Band of Brothers and The Pacific. In the series, which will make its global debut on Apple TV+, Boyle will play the lead role of Major Rosie’ Rosenthal.
