John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne (born 3 December 1948) is an English singer, songwriter, actor and television personality. He rose to prominence during the 1970s as the lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Black Sabbath, during which he adopted the nickname "The Prince of Darkness".
Osbourne was fired from the band in 1979 due to alcohol and drug problems, but he went on to have a successful solo career, releasing eleven studio albums, the first seven of which were all awarded multi-platinum certifications in the United States. Osbourne has since reunited with Black Sabbath on several occasions.
Ozzy Osbourne has opened up about his health problems, admitting that at one point he thought he was dying. The Black Sabbath frontman, 71, endured a fall, neck surgery and hospitalisation for the flu last year and he also has Parkinson's disease.
He says he was in so much pain following his surgery that he thought it was the end and his family was hiding it from him. Speaking to SiriusXM, Ozzy said: "I'm not back to 100 percent.
I'm about 75 percent there, but it's such a slow recovery. "Spine surgery is bad news, man. I've been in such a bad state with pain; I'm still having a lot of pain." "There was a point I was convinced that I was dying," he added. "I was in that much discomfort and pain and misery.
