Reports of a group of four men slaughtering birds near the bridge on the canal somewhere near Fishwick Street area have emerged on Facebook prompting RSPCA inspectors to take up the case.
According to one woman the group fled carrying the corpses of dead birds, dropping one on the tow path, when they were seen carrying out their sick crime.
