One person is fighting for life and two have been injured after a crash on the M1. The incident happened on the northbound carriageway of the motorway just before 11.20pm yesterday evening.
It involved a black Range Rover and a black Audi RS4, Leicestershire Police said in a statement. A 37-year-old man is in custody after being arrested on suspicion of drink driving and driving offences.
A rear passenger of the Range Rover was seriously injured and is in a critical condition in hospital. The M1 has been closed in both directions at junction 23 in Leicestershire following the collision.
The Audi's driver was not injured, police said. The force said diversions are in place and the motorway is "likely to remain closed for some time".
