Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has played down reports that Donny van de Beek was a target of Everton during the summer despite speculated interest, while noting the player's frustrations.
The Toffees were forced to keep their wallets in their pockets during the transfer window, despite their previous free-spending nature of years gone by, after the pressure of Financial Fair Play.
Two of their star players this season have been Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend who cost collectively £1.1m. Rafael Benitez reportedly made a late push to sign the Dutchman on loan but as the window slammed shut, Van de Beek remained a United player.
