'Non-local' visitors urged to stay away from beauty spot after police officer assaulted

Wigan, last weekend. The Lancashire Police officer advised a non-local visitor that they were breaching Covid-19 guidelines by travelling to the popular walking destination.Soon after, they were assaulted by this individual.

Policing at the beauty spot is now being increased to ensure people stay local to where they live, Lancs Live reports. Under current restrictions, people in England are instructed to 'stay local' for any outdoor exercise.Officers are working with West Lancashire Borough Council to try and get this message across to those looking to visit Fairy Glen.

Last Saturday, the Manchester Evening News reported that police dished out a number of fines to walkers who had travelled to Fairy Glen from across the North West.
