cash being kept in a safe. “Defence witnesses who would have given evidence had the trial gone ahead are family members of the accused and friends.“Money was paid by them effectively into Mr Stewart’s personal account.“He accepts that results in theft.”Mr Brophy said that there was also a dispute between Stewart and the other directors over money that had been taken from the safe.The court heard that Stewart has since paid them £10,000 in order to resolve the “unfortunate situation”.Mr Brophy said that Stewart, of Townswell Gardens, Glassford, resigned from the company and for the last two years has been working for another firm as an accounts manager.Sheriff Douglas Brown deferred sentence on Stewart for a criminal justice social work.
