A newborn baby died in hospital when his dropping heart rate was not spotted in time because medics recorded his mother's reading instead, an inquest found.
Eddie Coffey died the day after being born from a lack of oxygen during delivery after doctors failed to spot his condition, an investigation ruled.
During his birth, medics noted his mother Hannah's heart rate instead of her baby's - an error which led to him not getting the treatment he needed.
As a result a coroner ruled neglect at the hospital led to his death. Hannah Coffey, 30, was in labour at Lister Hospital in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, on January 13, 2019, when consultants noticed a decrease in the boy's heart rate at around 10.40pm.
