Liverpool have brought construction on their new £50m training ground to a halt amid the coronavirus pandemic. Anfield chiefs were confident they would open their new Kirkby facility in time for Jurgen Klopp and co to use for pre-season training ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.
Yet the coronavirus outbreak means they are now facing a race against time to do so, as construction on the site has been suspended after all non-key workers were forced into lockdown across England on Monday.
Contractors McLaughlin and Harvey were continuing with the job as recently as Monday before Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced new stringent Government guidelines later that evening.
