Back in 2019, a handful of Android users noticed that Google had begun to code playback options into their version of the Netflix app.
And while most people assumed that this was a bad idea, full stop, period, the discussions that followed – including the comparisons to audiobooks and the need for a more binge-friendly way of keeping up with Peak Television – demonstrated that there is at least some audience for Netflix content at varying playback speeds.
