A businessman has lost his bid to bring a High Court action against the Government over Covid-19 lockdown rules. Simon Dolan, who according to the Sunday Times Rich List is worth £200 million, was pursuing a claim against Health Secretary Matt Hancock and Education Secretary Gavin Williamson over the regulations.

He claimed the rules are costing the economy billions of pounds each day, a "disproportionate breach of fundamental rights and freedoms" protected by the European Convention on Human Rights, and beyond the Government's powers.

He also challenged the decision to close schools across the country to most children. But, in a ruling on Monday, Mr Justice Lewis refused permission for a full hearing of the challenge.
