The government has pledged to test every care home resident and member of staff in England for coronavirus by early June. Speaking at the daily Downing Street briefing, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said all care home residents and workers will be tested regardless of symptoms.
Mr Hancock said the latest package is the "most intense support and scrutiny that care homes have ever received." The health secretary also announced that an NHS clinical lead will be appointed at every care home in England, and that local authorities must conduct a daily review on the situation.
