Thirsty MPs got through nearly £1million in booze and snacks in just six months in subsidised Westminster bars. From October 2018 to March 2019 they guzzled £105,273 worth of Carlsberg, Guinness and Stella.
Almost £44,000 went on champagne and fizz, £87,894 on red wine and £99,560 on white. A total of £43,699 was spent on spirits, with £23,049 splurged on House of Commons gin.
But just £605 went on alcohol-free lager Becks Blue and £114 on Erdinger zero-booze beer. As for snacks, plain crisps and salt and vinegar Walker’s were among the most popular, with around £6,035 spent on both.
