Dundee United included a player in their squad for last night’s Fir Park clash despite returning a false-positive Covid-19 test.

Steelmen chiefs made frantic calls to the authorities just hours before learning of the news in the opposition camp with goals from Devante Cole and Chris Long earning them a 2-1 win.

A member of Micky Mellon ’s squad - who saw Ryan Edwards net a late header - recorded a positive test in a round of routine checks before the required subsequent NHS test returned negative which supersedes the prior positive result.

Previously, players would still have to self-isolate for 10 days when returning a false-positive with Hibs boss Jack Ross furious when he was denied the services of Alex Gogic for a defeat against.
