THE King’s speech was the most watched piece of television on Christmas Day. Over 10.72million people tuned in to see the Monarch deliver the annual festive message for the first time across BBC One, BBC Two and ITV.
The number was 1.6million up on the Queen’s last ever festive speech – her 69th Christmas address to the nation. In his message King Charles III paid tribute to the late Queen.
He also acknowledged now is a “time of great hardship” for Brits amid the cost-of-living crisis, and “paid tribute” to the charitable people around the world.
Speaking from Windsor, Charles added: “I am standing here in this exquisite Chapel of St. George at Windsor Castle, so close to where my beloved mother, The late Queen, is laid to rest with my dear father.
