Missing hiker, 80, found alive after tireless three-day search

A hiker who had been missing the Yorkshire Dales for three days has been found alive. Pensioner Harry Harvey was first reported missing at 1.30pm on Sunday September 6 after failing to meet his friend at the Tan Hill Inn.

Police feared the 80-year-old, from Tynemouth and said to be a competent hiker, got lost en route, reports Yorkshire Live. Mountain rescue teams have been working tirelessly to find Mr Harvey with local residents and workers asked to check sheds, barns and other outbuildings.

Those involved include Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team, Teesdale & Weardale MRT, North of Tyne Mountain Rescue, Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue, Cleveland Mountain Rescue, RAF Mountain Rescue and Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England.
