Boris Johnson is facing growing pressure to help millions of people trapped in unsellable properties due to Grenfell-style cladding.
MPs overwhelmingly backed a Labour motion to establish an independent taskforce to get to grips with the crisis, which has left leaseholders facing crippling costs to remove flammable cladding from their homes.
The Prime Minister ordered his MPs to abstain on the symbolic vote on Monday but he faced clear anger from the Tory benches.
Around 11 million people are estimated to be living in properties that are potentially unsafe, leaving them facing sky-high bills for remedial works.
