Mikel Arteta dropped Mesut Ozil for tactical reasons - but didn't disclose anymore information. Ozil had played in every match under Arteta until this point, but was left out of the first team and wasn't even named on Arsenal's nine-man bench to take on Manchester City.
Arteta confirmed the German World Cup winner isn't carrying an injury, casting doubt on Ozil's long-term future at the club.
On the match, Arteta said: "Everything went wrong from the first minute when Granit [Xhaka] got injured and we had to change the plan.
But hopefully every possible accident happened today." Arsenal were looking good before Arteta was forced into making two early changes, after both Granit Xhaka and Pablo Mari suffered injuries.
