Michael van Gerwen has admitted it has been difficult to motivate himself for Premier League nights since booking his place in the play-offs.
The Green Machine has been assured of a top-four finish for weeks, leaving him with just the £10,000 bonus for the winner on the night to play for.
The new format of the Premier League sees a mini tournament each night with quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final. Losing semi-finalists get two points, losing finalists pick up three and the winner receives five, along with the 10 grand bonus.With the European Tour in full swing, and tournaments virtually every weekend, Van Gerwen says he has had to prioritise those events above the Premier League, at least until play-off night in Berlin next month.
