Chelsea’s former director of football Michael Emenalo is seeing his model for the club coming true after the win against Sheffield United.The Blues made it four consecutive victories with a 4-1 thrashing of the Blades in the latest Premier League game.
It saw Frank Lampard field five of the six players he spent £200m on over the summer, with Kai Havertz missing out due to Covid-19.
Four of the other players – Reece James, Kurt Zouma, Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham – have worked their way up the academy.And this echoes a vision expressed by Emenalo, who worked at the club’s director of football for six years, in October 2019.
