Sections of the Eccles Metrolink line will shut over Easter due to 'essential maintenance. From Monday 4 to Friday 29 April, planned engineering works will take place on parts of the line, Transfort for Greater Manchester have said.

The work is the latest in a series of planned track renewals and represents the second phase of activity on the Eccles line this year, with several further phases of work planned for later in summer 2022, TfGM say.

The work will see the replacement of worn rails in a number of locations between Eccles and MediaCity UK. A TfGM spokesperson said: "Tram services will continue to operate as normal between Ashton and MediaCityUK, with more double trams on the line.

A like-for-like bus replacement service will also operate between Eccles and MediaCityUK. READ MORE: Greater Manchester unites against 'severely suboptimal' HS2 Bill in Parliament "Metrolink staff will also be around at key locations, at busier times to help you to make your journey.
