Tory Matt Hancock was today blasted by the UK statistics watchdog for repeatedly using "inadequate" coronavirus testing figures.

The Health Secretary was slapped down for trying to boast of "the largest possible number of tests - even at the expense of understanding." Sir David Norgrove, Chair of the UK Statistics Authority, hit out at the top Tory for including tests posted out - but not yet complete - in the figures.
