Martin Lewis' expert team have issued homeowners with urgent advice ahead of receiving the £150 council tax rebate next month.
The discount is one of many support measures announced by the UK government after energy regulator Ofgem confirmed the energy price cap will rise by 54% in April because of surging wholesale gas prices.
Rishi Sunak confirmed that the rebate will be available to all households in England that are in council tax bands A, B, C or D.
With the money back set to start appearing in accounts of those eligible next month, Martin Lewis' MoneySavingExpert team has issued a reminder of who will get the rebate and what to do in order to avoid delays with getting the payment. "Those who pay council tax by direct debit will get it automatically paid into their bank accounts," the experts said in the latest edition of the MSE newsletter.
