A prisoner who was due to appear in court today gave guards the slip after claiming he felt ill. The 21-year-old man, who has been charged with a series of offences, was reportedly taken to Tameside General Hospital in Ashton-under-Lyne, Manchester Evening News reported.
He managed to dodge out of the guards' grip and fled the hospital. His escape led Greater Manchester Police to scramble a helicopter and send officers out to find him.
As of this afternoon they were scouring Reddish Vale Country Park near Stockport in a bid to find him. He had been due to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court.
