Manchester United are set to increase security around executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, amid fears that frustrated fans could target him.
In January, Woodward’s Cheshire home was attacked by a group of around 20 thugs, throwing flares and a smoke bomb during the attack.The attack was carried out by so-called fans who had become increasingly angry at the the club’s transfer activity in that window.United have been criticised again this summer, with many believing they have failed to match the ambition of their top-six rivals.With days to go before the deadline, United have confirmed the signing of one senior player in the shape of Donny van de Beek from Ajax.
