Manchester United ignored all of Ralf Rangnick's transfer recommendations during his reign at the club - two of his targets were even snapped up by Manchester City.The German manager took up the Old Trafford reins from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the end of November, overseeing United’s campaign until the end of last season.
Unfortunately, the former RB Leipzig manager did not enjoy much luck either, as United tumbled out of all the competitions and could only muster a disappointing sixth placed finish in the Premier League.As well as guiding the team until the end of the campaign, Rangnick was expected to remain at the club on a consultancy basis, only to depart the club and take charge of the Austrian national team.
However, this may have been for the best as reports understand the Reds decided not to take his advice on five players he recommended the club to sign.Read More: Man Utd fans threaten to boycott Old Trafford for Liverpool clash that’s live on MNF According to the Manchester Evening News, Rangnick recommended the club to sign Erling Haaland, Christopher Nkunku, Konrad Laimer, Josko Gvardiol and Julian Alvarez.
Both Haaland and Alvarez were eventually poached by fierce rivals Manchester City and have already hit the ground running on the blue side of Manchester.Out of all of those five players, Rangnick emphasised the importance of signing RB Leipzig defender Gsvardiol.
