Bomb disposal units raced to a Scots street after a suspicious item was found following a man's death.Police were called to the Shortlees area of Kilmarnock after the 'sudden death' of a man in Craigie Court at around 2.25pm on Wednesday.
On arrival officers discovered the 'suspect item' at the property and the bomb squad were contacted.East Ayrshire Council confirmed on Wednesday evening that residents had been asked to leave their homes as a precaution and an evacuation centre was set up at the Shortlees Community Centre.
They were all able to return home at around 3.15am on Thursday after the item was assessed and deemed safe. The man's death is currently being treated as 'unexplained' but there are no suspicious circumstances.A Police
