Sergio Aguero suffered a knee injury in the 5-0 victory over Burnley on Wednesday night and he will now travel to Barcelona for a further assessment.
Aguero, who was making his first start since the Premier League's resumption, landed in a heap after being fouled by Ben Mee on the edge of the half-time in the penalty area.
It took an intervention by VAR to award the penalty, which Riyad Mahrez' converted to make it 3-0, but the Argentine was immediately substituted after feeling discomfort in his left-knee during the first half.
Aguero was able to walk off the pitch but Pep Guardiola warned after the match that the injury didn't look good and he will travel for further examinations from Dr Ramon Cugat - Guardiola' preferred knee specialist.
