City have spent £100m+ on three January arrivals this week with Omar Marmoush, Khasnov and Victor Reis all set to be included in the squad for Saturday's Premier League game with Chelsea.
But one winter arrival will not be at the Etihad with midfielder Claudio Echeverri having been granted permission by City to represent Argentina at the South American Under-20 Championship.
That tournament runs until mid February and Argentina take on Brazil tonight (11.30pm kick off UK time) in a blockbuster group game.
Echeverri is a key player for Argentina and a match-up against Brazil will offer a gauge of the star's potential for when he does link up with City next month.
