A man has been arrested on suspicion of rape as part of an investigation into non-recent child sexual exploitation in Oldham.
Officers carried out warrants at the suspect's home and businesses today (Thursday) as part of Operation Sherwood. The 52-year-old was arrested on suspicion of rape, sexual activity with a child, trafficking, and grooming.
He has been taken into police custody for questioning. Operation Sherwood was launched in 2022 following the publication of a damming CSE report in the borough. Police said although it may seem as though officers 'have taken some time to get to this stage', the operation has been 'moving forward steadily'.
