The M56 could remain closed overnight for resurfacing works after a lorry overturned earlier this afternoon. Long queues built up after the HGV crashed near junction 10 for Warrington just after 2.30pm.
Pictures from the scene showed the lorry on its side, jack-knifed across the carriageway. The driver was treated for cuts and grazes.
