A rally to 'protect' Ayr’s war memorial has been scheduled for this weekend.The Loyalist Defence League (LDL) plan to protect Ayr Cenotaph in Wellington Square on Sunday, June 21 from 12- 2pm.The activist group- thought to be same who took over Glasgow’s George Square last weekend- posted a photo of the Ayr memorial on Facebook with details of the event, adding ‘No Surrender’ to their post.Scuffles broke out at their event in Glasgow last week when large crowds gathered to protest which was condemned by political leaders.

The gatherings comes in response to the Black Lives Matter movement which has seen statues, mainly related to racism or the slave trade across Britain, being condemned and a few pulled down during mass protests.The war.
