Love Island to start in July and will air for 8 weeks – but winter series axed

Love Island has reportedly been given a start date of July as bosses work with the ongoing coronavirus restrictions.It means the show will air during the height of summer, as ITV have confirmed to MailOnline that the series will run for eight weeks.But the winter series, which has aired just once at the beginning of 2020, has reportedly been dropped so ITV producers can focus on the summer version.In the past, Love Island has started at the beginning of June, but with Covid restrictions not scheduled to lift until later that month, it seems bosses are keen to play it safe.A source said: "Crew members are scheduled to fly out to Majorca on June 20 – with the series expected to launch a week later."In 2019, the first episode aired on June 3,.
