Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP and the Portugal national team as a midfielder. Fernandes started his career at Serie B side Novara Calcio and soon featured for Udinese and Sampdoria in Serie A.
In 2017, he signed with Sporting CP where he established himself as one of the best players in the Primeira Liga. He was named the LPFP Primeira Liga Player of the Year in both 2017–18 and 2018–19. In the latter season, he also helped Sporting win the Taça de Portugal. A senior international since 2017, Fernandes represented Portugal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Louis Saha claims Manchester United need four new recruits of Bruno Fernandes' quality in order to challenge for titles. The Red Devils have had an inconsistent start to the Premier League season, with victories at Brighton, Newcastle and Everton tempered by a 6-1 thrashing by Tottenham and 1-0 defeat to Arsenal.
Their form in the Champions League has been similarly mixed, with an impressive 2-1 win at PSG and 5-0 drubbing of RB Leipzig followed by a 2-1 loss to Istanbul Basaksehir.
One star who has regularly stepped up for United has been Bruno Fernandes, who has scored 18 goals in 33 games and established himself as a creative powerhouse since his £47million arrival in January.
