Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; born 21 April 1926) is Queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. Elizabeth was born in London, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and she was educated privately at home. Her father ascended the throne on the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII in 1936, from which time she was the heir presumptive. She began to undertake public duties during the Second World War, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In 1947, she married Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, with whom she has four children: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

Loose Women's Denise Welch says King Charles should 'read the room' ahead of coronation

Denise Welch has expressed hope that King Charles will "read the room" when it comes to the plans for his official coronation to be crowned as the new monarch.

The Loose Women panellist, 64, appeared on Wednesday's instalment of the ITV daytime show alongside host Jane Moore, Linda Robson and Brenda Edwards.

Since the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday, September 8, coverage has been dedicated to the UK's longest reigning monarch and has continued following her funeral on Monday. READ MORE: Loose Women’s Denise Welch looks unrecognisable in winter 80s throwback snapYesterday's panellists began discussing the scale of the next royal occasion which will be the coronation of King Charles, expected to take place at some point in 2023.Both Denise and Linda, 64, agreed that the coronation should follow suit with the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, using local street parties to celebrate the momentous occasion.Former Waterloo Road actress believes the event should be "scaled back" and requested the celebration only lasts "just one day.""I think it's all has been quite a lot, this last 10 days, but I think that it definitely will be a celebration," she said.

The former Coronation Street actress added: "But I think that Charles, hopefully as the new King, will read the room and realise that although the money spent on this type of pageantry and pomp obviously brings a lot of revenue into this country, I think that it should be a slightly scaled back affair.
