The King’s new cypher has officially been revealed ahead of the formal period of royal mourning coming to an end following The Queen ’s death.
Announcing the news on Monday after Charles was seen wearing the new logo on his tie, Buckingham Palace confirmed the upcoming change to the iconic ER previously used by the King's late mother.
Charles’ monogram will begin to appear on government buildings, state documents and on some post boxes in the coming months and years as it replaces the insignia previously in place under The Queen’s reign. The new cypher features the King’s initial C intertwined with the letter R for Rex – Latin for King – with III written within the R denoting Charles III.
A crown then sits above the letters, in a direct nod to Charles' status as the ruling sovereign. The nation’s new monarch travelled to Scotland soon after the Queen’s funeral last Monday, with the period of royal mourning, which lasted for seven days after the late Queen’s burial, now drawing to a close.
